Day 1 of my 2019 #rhinocharge was yesterday. Everything arrived smoothly. As always it’s hot and dusty. We drove in the rain pretty much most of the way. Bringing in Tarpo‘s 8 trucks, 2 overland trucks and 70 people in a single convoy is a slow process with so much uncertainty and much of it is to do with time. This is also one of the trickiest venues we’ve had to plan for in terms of logistics not withstanding that some of the camps we’re setting up have over 100 guests and we have a day and half to set them up. It takes a superhuman camaraderie to do what we do. I talk about it year after year and the consistency in the energy and joy of working like this is always impressive. This year I stand on the sidelines proudly watching Walter, Myra, Martha, Mutuku, Isaac, Viton, Mark, Matamba and their teams do what they do. They are patient, calm, laughing, smiling, encouraging… The running jokes. I’m exactly where I’m meant to be…
